Jordin Sparks - Debut Album
So far so good. That's what I have to say as I'm listening to Jordin Sparks' debut self-titled album on Britney Spears' label Zomba. Well for the most part anyway. Currently playing is an atrocious, over the top cheese-fest ballad called God Loves Ugly. I mean seriously Jordin...WTF? Save the depth for a book of poetry (a la Jewel) or something. But the other tracks...not bad. Am I still
Always on the Sunny Side...(in the U.S. anyway)
So I was getting ready for work this morning and I heard that Natasha Bedingfield was going to be performing. I knew I didn't have time to wait around so I set my TIVO to record it. I got home this evening and watched it.
When Matt Lauer introduced Ms. Bedingfield, he said that her album, POCKET FULL OF SUNSHINE would be released soon. I did a double take. Pocket full of what? Really Natasha?

Let Me Be FRANK With You...
So let's discuss the dilemma I was facing earlier with the U.S. release of Amy Winehouse's debut album, FRANK. Allmusic.com was correct with the tracklisting provided. Amazon.com was wrong. So I purchased the U.S. version. Tuesday morning on iTunes I checked out FRANK and found a bunch of bonus tracks.Only later did I realize that the bonus tracks were on the copy of the CD I purchased--just

2nd Is The Best (Or Is It?)
It seems to be a trend lately for artists to re release an album with bonus tracks or remixes when sales aren't quite as high as they could be. Beyonce, Shakira and most recently, Amy Winehouse. Sometimes this works...sometimes it doesn't. When Shakira released "Oral Fixation Vol. 2" with bonus tracks, including Hips Don't Lie...it sort of paid off. If it's an artist that I really like, and the

Matthew Wroda - Sugar Sugar
Matthew Wroda. Described by his official website as a "fourteen year old singing sensation" this young artist was discovered the good old-fashioned way. Well sort of. Having starred in various school productions, he finally entered a Florida singing competition and soon after was contacted by a talent scout. SOON after that, Matthew and his parents were off to LA to
Paradiso Girls
I've mentioned once before that Chelsea Korka from TVs The Pussycat Dolls Present: Search For The Next Doll has joined a new girl group. The group, formed by PCD visionary, Robin Antin are going to be marketed as a European Pussycat Dolls with some slight changes. One major change will be the lack of a lead singer--a "Nicole Scherzinger" if you will. The girls are from the UK, France

Yahoo Cover Art™ - Aly & AJ cover "Black Horse & The Cherry Tree"
Pretty disappointed in this cover version.
Blake Lewis vs. Jordin Sparks
American Idol Rant:
I seem to hear over and over again how "BLAH" American Idol was this past season. I disagree. I honestly don't know what people are expecting. They have diversified the talent base by raising the age restriction a bit...allowing for older, more rounded talents (AKA a lot of professional back up singers). They are allowing singers with unique and different sounds into the

Warren Malone - French Kisses
Warren Malone. What a cutie! Malone appeared on Season 3 of American Idol when he performed a tribute to Paula Abdul and made it to the Hollywood round. After Idol, Malone formed his own label "Show World Records, LLC" and plans on releasing his debut album chock-full of fun, pop/dance tracks written by big name songwriters.
According to Malone's official website, the album was "recorded in

Darren Hayes - Me Myself And (I)
Darren Hayes is back with a second official single from his 2 disc album, THIS DELICATE THING WE'VE MADE. First came the club single, Step Into The Light followed by radio single On The Verge Of Something Wonderful. Now we have Me, Myself And (I).
The track in and of itself is a pretty club friendly track, but the added bonus of remixes makes it even more club-centric. Due out on November
Craig David - Hot Stuff (Let's Dance)
Hmm...Craig David, British R&B/Pop singer is back with a new album and single. If the first single is any indication, this is going to be a lot more fun than his last effort! "Hot Stuff (Let's Dance)" is the new single off his new album TRUST ME due in the UK on November 9th.
You can listen to snippets from the entire album at 7Digital.com but it looks like it's a mix of R&B ballads and some
The Next Doll (Sort Of) - Chelsea Korka
Imagine my surprise when I read about Chelsea Korka from THE SEARCH FOR THE NEXT DOLL, joining another girl group founded by Pussycat Dolls founder, Robin Antin!
The CW show pitted girls against one another with the ultimate prize being a chance to join the Pussycat Dolls as another member of the singing, dancing pop act. While Korka didn't win (Asia Nitollano did--and reportedly
Mutya Buena - B Boy Baby
I was rather elated when I learned that Mutya Buena (formerly of the Sugababes) decided to release her collaboration with Amy Winehouse, "B Boy Baby," as the next single from her debut solo effort. Borrowing from the 1963 Ronette's song, "Be My Baby," this new track is a grower. These days, almost anything (musically) that Winehouse touches, has been turning to gold (or at least silver or bronze
Amy Studt is back!!
Much to my surprise, I found out via LastFM that UK singer Amy Studt is back with a new label and a new single, come this December. Amy Studt used to be on the Polydor label and had some success with two singles, "Just A Little Girl" and "Misfit." Originally pegged as UK's answer to Avril Lavigne, further singles proved to be less successful on the charts and she was dropped from her label.

My first posting!
Sure...I already have a blog. Before today I was posting blogs on both MySpace and LiveJournal...but I thought it was time for a change. I wanted somewhere that allowed for a little more creative expression. BlogSpot was that spot.I'm still going to be posting at those other sites but I might be posting some exclusive postings here. Just you wait and see. My thought is that eventually this blog
