Hot Video Alert: Monarchy feat. Britt Love - You Don't Want To Dance With Me
Yes, this is ancient by now but I couldn't just ignore a song/video featuring Britt Love, one half of the now defunct English synthpop group Mini Viva. The song, the very Frankmusik-esque "You Don't Want To Dance With Me," originally appeared sans Britt Love on Around The Sun, the debut band from NOT defunct English synthpop duo, Monarchy. You might actually already know Monarchy from

Hot Video Alert: Matt Cardle - Starlight
If chart position really matters in the music biz, then things aren't looking good for last year's X-Factor winner Matt Cardle. Entering the UK Singles Chart at a dismal 185 upon it's release in early December, the reality star's latest single, "Starlight" was co-penned by Cardle himself alongside Ash Howes, Richard "Biff" Stannard and Seton Daunt. The single is considerably more

Ones To Watch in 2012: Ricki-Lee
Ricki-Lee is hands down one of my favorite Aussie pop singers today. Sure, the Australian pop scene is saturated with an abundance of talent, but Ricki-Lee should be right up there in the mix as far as I'm concerned. The first single off her forthcoming third studio album (her first signed with EMI), a stunning dance/pop jewel called "Raining Diamonds" was released in Australia back in

Hot Video Alert: Jessie J - Domino
"Domino" is the latest single by international pop star Jessie J and it's a hot one. Originally released as the first (and as of yet, only) single off of the re-release of her debut album, Who You Are, "Domino" was co-penned by Jessie alongside Dr. Luke, Claude Kelly, Max Martin and Henry Walter, with production brought to you by Dr. Luke and Cirkut. With a team like that behind you, how

Hot Video Alert: JoJo - Disaster
When "Disaster" was released at the end of the summer, I had high hopes that we'd be seeing a new JoJo album before the end of the year. Unfortunately, it looks like we have to wait a little bit longer. Originally released back in August, "Disaster" was the first tease of what's to come on JoJo's forthcoming, long delayed, MuuMuse-anticipated third studio album, Jumping Trains, now due

Hot Video Alert: Lana Del Rey - Born To Die
"Born To Die" is the stunning title track taken from Lana Del Rey's forthcoming debut album due out January 30th in the UK (Polydor) and January 31st in the U.S. (Interscope). According to Lana, "The songs I've written are an homage to true love and a tribute to living life on the wild side." Besides "Born To Die," other confirmed tracks on the album include "Million Dollar Man," "Off To

Hot Video Alert: Kelly Clarkson - What Doesn't Kill You (Stronger)
Unofficial Single Cover designed by Benikari47
"What Doesn't Kill You (Stronger)" is everything Kelly Clarkson's first single should have been. This up-tempo pop anthem has #1 written all over it, unfortunately, it's not looking good as the song peaked at at a devastatingly low #64 back when the new album was first released. While the song did re-enter the Billboard Hot 100 the week of

Hot Video Alert: V.V. Brown feat. Chiddy Bang - Children
Back before Halloween I did a little write up on UK singer/songwriter V.V. Brown's tremendous new single "Children," and of course shortly after I stopped blogging for a month, she went ahead and released the official music video for the song. The song offers listeners a little lick of what's to come from her sophomore release, Lollipops & Politics, due February 7th via Capitol Records

Hot Video Alert: Agnes - Don't Go Breaking My Heart
Agnes Carlsson could very well be my SECOND favorite Swedish pop singer, next to the lovely Robyn, of course. All the way back in September, the beautiful 23 year old former winner of 2005's Swedish Idol released a new dance-pop single called confusingly titled "Don't Go Breaking My Heart." When I first heard the title, I obviously thought of a song by Elton John and Kiki Dee but didn't

Hot Video Alert: Katy B - Movement
Six singles? Really Columbia? Don't get me wrong, I love me some Katy B but releases six singles off of one album? Completely unnecessary. I'm all for listening to an artist's entire debut album over and over again until their second album drops, but I don't need every single album track released as it's own single. That kind of seems like a waste of money on the label's part, doesn't it?

Hot Video Alert: Jessie and The Toy Boys - Let's Get Naughty
As much as I love and adore Jessie Malakouti's pop-perfect outfit, Jessie and the Toy Boys I just can't seem to get into her latest single, the appropriately titled "Let's Get Naughty." For me, the song is just missing something. "Push It" had a certain something something that just worked. "Let's Get Naughty" is missing that something something. "All my hoes, touch your toes!" she says a

Hot Video Alert: Will Young - Come On
The original winner of Pop Idol (the UK reality series and precursor to the X-Factor) Will Young has had a long and illustrious pop career spanning nine years, quite impressive considering he's only 32 years old. Since the release of debut #1 album, 2002's From Now On, Young has amassed a total of three #1 albums, not to mention two top 5 albums. On the singles front, Young has been

Hot Video Alert: Rihanna feat. Calvin Harris - We Found Love
Barbadian pop singer Rihanna has to be one of the hardest-working woman in popular music right now. The talented singer's most recent single, the Calvin Harris-produced "We Found Love" recently became her ninth #1 Billboard Hot 100 single (eleventh if you count her collaborations with Eminem and T.I.) and the song's album, Talk That Talk became her sixth top ten album, the last three of

Hot Video Alert: Britney Spears - Criminal
Britney Spears has done it again folks. I'm going to go right out and say it..."Criminal" might just be the best Britney video since "Toxic." While the song itself has had quite a polarizing effect on Britney stans, it's grown on my considerably since it's initial release back in September. Written and produced by Max Martin and Shellback and co-written by Tiffany Amber, a radio remix of

Hot Video Alert: Dionne Bromfield feat. Mz. Bratt - Ouch
Pity that 15 year old singer/songwriter Dionne Bromfield's sophomore album didn't do better than it did. When Bromfield first arrived on the scene as the first artist signed to Amy Winehouse's record label, Lioness, she was the talk of the town and while her first album, 2009's Introducing Dionne Bromfield, wasn't exactly a resounding success (it peaked at #33 on the Official UK Albums

Hot Video Alert: Emeli Sandé feat. Naughty Boy - Daddy
Scottish soul singer/songwriter Emeli Sandé could very well be one of my favorite new artists of the past year. While Sandé first came to the attention of UK music fans after a feature on English rapper Chipmunk's debut single, "Diamond Rings" I first heard her sultry sounds with the release last year of Wiley's "Never Be Your Woman", a catchy dubstep jam. The song featured a hearty dose of

Hot Video Alert: Jada - This Party's On Fire
Boston-based dance/pop group Jada (AKA Lauren, Jacyn, Elle & April) are BACK with a fiery new dance/pop single and I couldn't be more happy about it. Released digitally back in September via Code 11 Records, "This Party's On Fire" is the first single since 2009's "Break Up Song" which marked the band's second major label single release. Jada's major label debut single came back in March

Hot Video Alert: Jessie J - Who You Are
Jessie J sure has a lot of haters out there and I don't honestly know why. I think she's one of the most talented pop stars to come out of the UK in quite some time. Vocally, I think she's a powerhouse and she delivers with EVERY performance, even during the 2011 MTV VMA's where she was performing as "house band," confined to a throne because of an injury. Girl delivers EVERY TIME. Well..

Hot Video Alert: Adele - Someone Like You
Excuse me while I mop up the puddle around my keyboard. I must say, it's comforting to know that "Someone Like You" elicits a similar reaction in so many people people. A true testament to the power of this song - a recent Saturday Night Live skit, in which an office full of people simultaneously break down while listening to Adele's emotionally raw ballad. While the song conjures up

Hot Video Alert: Belanova feat. Lena Katina - Tic-Toc
I first heard the music of Belanova, the Mexican synthpop trio from Guadalajara (AKA Denisse Guerrero on lead vocals, Edgar Huerta on keyboards & programming, and Ricardo "Richie" Arreola on bass), my last day in Mexico while eating breakfast at the Cancún International Airport. I don't know what music channel was playing in the background, but I liked what I heard and saw. First I was

Hot Video Alert: Kelly Clarkson - Mr. Know It All
Had I posted my immediate thoughts on Kelly Clarkson's "Mr. Know It All" when it was released September 5th, I would have likely been ranting and raving about it being just another RANT against men (which it is) but since I've had a couple of months to let it soak in...I have to say it's grown on me quite a bit. Is it Clarkson's best single to date? No. Is it a solid effort? Yeah. It

Hot Video Alert: Dionne Bromfield & Tinchy Stryder - Spinnin' For 2012
Back towards the end of September, UK singer (and burgeoning songwriter) Dionne Bromfield released "Spinnin' For 2012" alongside electro-rapper Tinchy Stryder as "The Official Olympic Torch Song." The song is meant to promote London as the host of the 2012 Olympic Games due to begin July 27th and promote it does. The video (directed by American music video director Rage) features footage

Hot Video Alert: Allure feat. Christian Burns - On The Wire
As much as I say I don't dig trance music, after listening to Allure's latest single "On The Wire" I may be on the fence with the this sub entity of the dance music genre. Then again, it may just be my major crush on English singer/songwriter Christian Burns, who is the featured vocalist on this track. Christian Burns might not be a household name here in the States but back in 2000, Burns

Hot Video Alert: Sean Paul feat. Alexis Jordan - Got 2 Luv U
Don't get it twisted...I am NOT a Sean Paul fan, but add a hot female vocal to a Sean Paul track and I'm totally game. In 2003 there was Beyoncé's "Baby Boy," not to mention Blu Cantrell's "Breathe." In 2006 we had Rihanna's "Break It Off," and Keyshia Cole's "(When You Gonna) Give It Up To Me)." While the Jamaican Paul has released tunes with female collaborators since 2006, nothing

Hot Video Alert: Leann Rimes - Give
"Give" is the emotion-drenched third single off LeAnn Rimes' thirteenth studio album Lady & Gentlemen. Written by Connie Harrington, Sonya Isaacs and Jimmy Yeary, the song is complemented by a lovely, video directed by Nigel Dick featuring homeless and formerly homeless teenagers. The video begins with a staggering statistic: "13 kids die on the street every day." The video concludes

V.V. Brown Teaches 'Children' A Lesson with New Single, Sophomore Album Due Next Year
One of my favorite artists to emerge over the last couple of years, V.V. Brown, recently dropped a new single and announced details from her forthcoming sophomore record, Lollipops & Politics. FINALLY! After hearing her for the first time in the summer of 2009, it's been a fast road to obsession for me. I've seen her live twice in Boston (once as the headlining

Hot Video Alert: The Saturdays - My Heart Takes Over
I love me some Saturdays, so after "Notorious" failed to have the chart impact everyone was hoping for, it was on to single #2. While I thought that the first single had a NOTORIOUSLY catchy dance beat, the UK-music buying public didn't see it my way. While a #8 debut isn't bad (in fact, their debut single "If This Is Love" debuted at #8), it's a better chart position three or four

Hot Remix Alert: Eddie Amador and Kimberly Cole featuring Garza - Arrow Through My Heart
You may remember a post I did this past summer about an up and coming dance pop diva named Kimberly Cole. At the time Cole had JUST released her new single, "Arrow Through My Heart," with producer/DJ and remixer Eddie Amador and new artist Garza. The blazing hot club track, which just entered the Billboard Dance Charts as hot dance breakout was released on
Graffiti6 Dazzles on New EP, Tours with Ximena
Seeing English pop/rocktronica duo Graffiti6 live in Boston this summer was a dream come true, no doubt and while I enjoyed the entire set, one track in particular really stood out. That song, the title track off of their brand new EP just so happens to be Graffiti6's official first U.S. radio single. Amazing. The 7-track Free EP includes two renditions of the title track plus stripped

Ones to Watch in 2012: Lily Elise
As big a fan I am of Kelly Clarkson, Jordin Sparks, Leona Lewis and other winners, oftentimes the contestants that most captivate me aren't the winners, but rather those that don't even make it to the final round. Case in point...Lily Elise. A contestant on season 1 of The Voice, from the moment Elise stepped out on stage, this 20 year talent just emanated pop star appeal. When she opened
The Wanted Announce Debut U.S. Performance, Prepare for Release of Sophmore Album
America. Get ready for The Wanted! Admittedly I haven't been this into a boy band since *NSYNC last hit the charts with their 2002 hit single "Girlfriend" (with rapper Nelly - remember that song?). While there may have been a light sprinkling of appealing boy bands between 2002 and now, none have me quite as revved up as The Wanted. There's just something about these boys...especially

Natalia Kills Not Quite Done with America: Embarks on Fall Tour with The Sounds
Natalia Kills is set to return to North America to continue promoting her debut album, Perfectionist this Fall with two sets of dates. Kicking things off October 30th in Boston, the U.S. leg of Kills' tour sees her joining forces with Swedish indie rock band The Sounds. The 9 city tour concludes on November 11th, before Kills moves up and over the border into Canada where she will embark on
Ones to Watch in 2012: Lana Del Rey
While the rest of the blogging world might have been drooling over Lana Del Rey months ago, I'm only just now falling in love. What can I say? There's no excuse. October 16th was the release date for Del Rey's debut double A-Side single, "Video Games" and "Blue Jeans," so I fell in love with her at a good time. While I'm not above listening to songs via YouTube my BlackBerry doesn't do

The Ting Tings 'Hang It Up' with New Single and Video
After what seemed like an eternity, English pop rock duo The Ting Tings are BACK with a hot new single and an equally hot new music video. It's been over a year since Jules De Martino (drums, lead guitar, bass guitar, vocals, piano) and Katie White (vocals, guitar, bass drums, bass guitar, and cow bells) dropped the first single off their highly anticipated sophomore album, the Calvin
Hot Remix Alert: Patrick Wolf - Together (Garcon Garcon Remix)
Talented English singer/songwriter Patrick Wolf will release his brand new EP, Brumalia, on November 28th. The EP features a beautiful song called "Together," a standout on Patrick's recent string of live shows. According to Wolf himself,
"'Together’ has been the highlight of the live shows over the last year, the audience reaction to this song has been totally inspiring,

U2 Celebrate 20 Years of 'Achtung Baby'
Wow. Can you believe that it's been nearly 20 years since U2 released their pivotal seventh studio album, Achtung Baby? The album spawned a whole slough of hit singles including "The Fly," "Mysterious Ways," "One," "Even Better Than The Real Thing," and
"Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses," with every single one of them going top ten on the Billboard Hot 100. The album became the band's
The Puppini Sisters Go Glam for 'Hollywood': New Album Due November 7th
Back in May I reported that retro pop/jazz trio The Puppini Sisters were NEARLY done with their third album (fourth, if you count 2010's Holiday album Christmas with the Puppini Sisters). Well...five months later we have a release date, and not one for France...one for the USA! The theme of the new album? Why old Hollywood, of course! How glamorous and absolutely perfect for the Puppinis!

Ones To Watch In 2012: Sunless '97
I thought I'd share with you some trippy new music from a brand new English electronica group called Sunless '97. I don't have too much info on the band other than their names - Alice, Ed, Matthew and Kwes. Their debut EP, Making Waves, is due for release on November 21st via Abeano Music. The EP will also be released on limited edition 12" vinyl. Check out more cool music from the band
Hot Video Alert: Olly Murs - Dance With Me Tonight
Oh Olly Murs. You're just too cute for words! In the recently released video for "Dance With Me Tonight," (directed by Marcus Lundin) cute-as-a-button Olly Murs gets hauled into the police station, mug shots taken, all before flashing back to the events that landed him in the slammer. Trouble maker Murs drives all over town, pickin' up his friends (even a couple of randoms) in his

Britney Spears Releases Lyric Video for Fourth Single, 'Criminal'
Hey hey! Britney Spears has released a lyric video for her fourth single, "Criminal," and while I'd rather watch the music video (obviously) I'll take what I can get. The only REAL ballad on Femme Fatale, "Criminal" was written by Tiffany Amber (Allison Iraheta, Britney Spears) and written/produced by Max Martin (Robyn, Kelly Clarkson) and Shellback (P!nk, Adam Lambert). Katie Melua Album Release Delayed, Due in February
Well it appears that a November release for Katie Melua's forthcoming 5th album was a bit too much too soon for the popular English singer/songwriter. On September 14th, Melua's longtime songwriting partner and producer Mike Batt Tweeted about the subject:
"Probably putting Katie's album back to Feb. Got it ready and everything (sounds fab) but not fair on her to rush the prep/marketing/

"Black Out The Sun," the second single from Darren Hayes' upcoming fourth studio album, is due for release in the UK October 2nd and follows first single "Talk Talk Talk" as well as the Australia/New Zealand-only release of another track called "Bloodstained Heart." Now, based in Nashville, TN, Ecker is making star crossed lovers out of anybody and everybody with his beautiful debut single "I Will Love You." While a lot of good pop music happens to come out of Sweden, Australia is absolutely another place that knows a thing or two about pop talent. 'Radioactive' New Marina and The Diamonds Single Due in October
Since releasing her debut album in 2010, I've been eagerly anticipating new material from Welsh singer/songwriter Marina Diamandis (AKA Marina and The Diamonds). Her last album, The Family Jewels, was different from anything else I'd ever heard so naturally I latched on to her unique sound and incredible knack for honest songwriting. In addition to being a talented songwriter, I was

Hot Video Alert: One Direction - What Makes You Beautiful
Last month the lovely boys of One Direction (Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson) released the video for their debut single, "What Makes You Beautiful," and I have to say I'm a little bit disappointed. I'm not just disappointed in the video, but the song as well. It's all just a bit...expected? Written by Carl Falk, Savan Kotecha and Rami Yacoub, "What Makes

Katie Melua Set To Release Fifth Album in November
First off...big thanks to Pop In Stereo for alerting me to this news! Katie Melua, one of my favorite English artists, is set to release her fifth album, Secret Symphony, on November 14th on her longtime label, Dramatico Records. The album, recorded at London's Air Studios sees the 26 year old Melua reverting back to some old habits, and by "habits" I mean the best kind of habits. In

Hot Video Alert: MIKA - Elle Me Dit
I love MIKA. I have since he released his first album, Life In Cartoon Motion, back in 2007 and the fact that his brand of infectious, feel good pop has yet to catch on here in America is an absolute travesty. MIKA's latest single, "Elle Me Dit," was released in France July 11th on iTunes via Barclay/Casablanca Records. Co-produced by MIKA and his frequent collaborator, Canadian producer
Hot Video Alert: Lady Gaga - Yoü and I
Up until now, I haven't been impressed by Lady Gaga's latest "masterpiece" album, Born This Way. The album's title track had a positive message and all but it kind of bored me. Her second single, "Judas" impressed me even less, coming off as a rehash/remix of "Bad Romance" and nothing more. By the time Gaga released her third single, "The Edge Of Glory," I was officially bored. Now we

Hot Video Alert: Chromeo featuring Solange Knowles - When The Night Falls
When I first heard that Montreal based "electrofunk" duo Chromeo was collaborating with Solange Knowles on a song, I nearly lost my shit. As much as I loved each individual artist, I was thinking "how is this going to work?" At the time I heard about it I was thinking about how different their genres were...Solange Knowles is an R&B artist whereas Chromeo is electronica. Had I thought

Hot Video Alert: Sugababes - Freedom
UGH! I'm just so bored with the Sugababes nowadays. I just don't know what happened...
Wait a minute. Yes I do. Keisha Buchanan left the group.
Ever since that fateful day, my love affair with the Sugababes has spiraled into blase indifference. Whether I would have liked the girls' seventh studio album, Sweet 7 with Buchanan's name and voice still attached...I'll never know. What I do

Hot Video Alert: Michelle Branch - Loud Music
Just in case you haven't seen the video yet for the new Michelle Branch single, "Loud Music,"...here it is. "Loud Music" is the first official single to be taken from Branch's forthcoming third studio West Coast Time. The album was originally slated for release in September, but has since been pushed back to "mid October," according to Billboard. Perhaps that's a good thing, considering "

Hot Video Alert: SuperHeavy - Miracle Worker
If the first single is any indication, SuperHeavy has a lot of potential for hotness. In case you haven't heard by now, SuperHeavy is a SUPERGROUP made up of Mick Jagger, Joss Stone, Dave Stewart, Damian Marley and A.R. Rahman. Quite the lineup, no? According to Jagger in an interview with Rolling Stone: "We wanted a convergence of different musical styles," says Jagger. "We were always
Hot Video Alert: Bella Vida - Kiss Kiss Me Bang Bang
Remember back in June when I did a lil post about the Hasselhoff sisters, Taylor & Haley AKA Bella Vida? Well, they've released a video for their catchy dance/pop single "Kiss Kiss Me Bang Bang" and it's cheesy to the max. While definitely a few thousand notches above the video for their Dad, David Hasselhoff's "Jump In My Car," the visual effects in the KKMBB video are low budget.

Hot Video Alert: Rascal Flatts featuring Natasha Bedingfield - Easy
Natasha Bedingfield is just all over the place these days, isn't she? First she released a failed album here in America (Strip Me only peaked at #103 on the Billboard 200), then she appeared in punk-pop band Simple Plan's single "Jet Lag," and now we have Natasha Bedingfield as a featured vocalist in a Rascal Flatts single? Seriously Natasha? I mean, I guess she's got to make a living

Hot Video Alert: Rebecca Black - My Moment
Rebecca Black seems hell bent on proving to the world that she has what it takes to be a pop star. Case in point - Black's most recent single, "My Moment," a mid-tempo auto-tuned pop single and follow up to "Friday." After Black gained notoriety fame attention with her debut single, "Friday," I waited for it all to blow over. To me, Rebecca Black was the epitome of everything that is

Hot Video Alert: Pixie Lott - All About Tonight
I'm BEYOND thrilled to hear that English singer/songwriter Pixie Lott is coming back with a new album. I absolutely fell in love with her debut, Turn It Up, back when that came out in the Fall of 2009. There was just something about her tone that kind of reminded me of a more youthful Natasha Bedingfield. Now, here we are nearly two years later and we're getting ready for her sophomore

Hot Video Alert: Olly Murs featuring Rizzle Kicks - Heart Skips A Beat
By now you all know about my Olly Murs crush. Well, latest single "Heart Skips A Beat" does absolutely nothing to get me off of my Olly Murs high. He's still cute as ever. I also was pleasantly surprised by the new song, in that it wasn't just another summery early Will Young, Jack Johnson jam song like most of his previous efforts. "Heart Skips A Beat" is actually more current than

t.A.T.u. Girls Both Move Forward With Solo Careers
I hate to have to repeat myself but I guess this time it's for real. Russian pop duo t.A.T.u. are no more. Donzo. Broken up. Not recording music together anymore. It's the end of an era, let me tell you. Despite having done a post about their break up back in 2009 it didn't become OFFICIAL OFFICIAL until March of 2011 (YEP - I'm a little late).
In that original t.A.T.u. post, I also
Hot Video Alert: Owl City - Deer In The Headlights
Is it possible for an artist to still be a "one hit wonder" with two top 10 albums under his belt? The reason I ask is because Owl City is now two albums into his career and only one single can really be considered a success. I guess I'm wondering if we should look at the single as the hit or the album. Maybe both? "Deer In The Headlights" is the second official single to be lifted off of

JoJo Set To Release New Single, 'Disaster' September 6th
20 year old Pop/R&B singer JoJo FINALLY unveiled her new official single "Disaster" earlier today and it was well worth the wait. The Mario Marchetti-produced track starts out like just like any other JoJo single (listen to "Too Little Too Late," "Anything") but it shows something that previous singles really didn't - growth. She may be only 20 years old but my my my, how much she's grown
Hot Video Alert: DEV - In The Dark
DEV isn't really an artist I've spent too much time posting about because...well...I don't really know where her true talents lie. Sure, she's ATTACHED herself to a few catchy tracks ("Like A G6" by Far East Movement, "She Make Me Wanna" by JLS and "Bass Down Low featuring The Cataracs) but that's really all it feels like to me - an attachment. I don't really know who DEV is as an artist.

"Free" is the latest single to come from Natalia Kills' masterful debut album, Perfectionist (out now in America). The song was co-written by Kills, Jeff Bhasker, Kid Cudi, No I.D. and produced by Bhasker, who's worked with artists such as Kanye West, Beyonce, and Alicia Keys. As I said when the single first emerged, "Free" is easily Kills' most commercially accessible single here in
Hot Video Alert: Estelle featuring Rick Ross - Break My Heart
I know this video came out AGES ago now but there's never NOT a good time to do an Estelle post, right? "Break My Heart" is the official second single taken from the UK R&B songstress's third album, All Of Me, featuring American rapper Rick Ross. The single was released back in May when it peaked at #33 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Chart.
"Break My Heart" is the follow
Hot Video Alert: Leona Lewis & Avicci - Collide
Well, I'm glad whole Leona Lewis/Avicii hullabaloo was finally settled. Back when Leona's new single, "Collide" was first announced there was barely a mention of Swedish DJ/producer Avicii, who's track "Penguin" is used in the song. Now, in advance of the song's September 4th UK release (September 6 in the U.S.) date, the song has been turned into a collaboration between the two artists.
Hot Video Alert: Jessie and the Toy Boys - Push It (Dig It Remix)
AMAZING! By now you know how much I love Jessie and The Toy Boys. You also know how much I love a good remix. What then, could be better than a new REMIX video featuring Jessie and The Toy Boys? Check out this official remix video for "Push It," which uses the Dig It Remix. The remix is just one of many to made of Jessie and The Toy Boys' "Push It" single, taken from Jessie's Show Me Your

Hot Video Alert: Joe Jonas - See No More
Yikes. This one is late. Earlier this summer I was posting about Joe Jonas and his, then upcoming release "See No More." The video premiered June 29th on E! Since the singles release on June 13th the song has grown on me a bit. While I have yet to be smitten with the Brian Kennedy produced, Chris Brown co-written track it sounds a lot better to me now then I did back when I initially
Hot Video Alert: Cobra Starship featuring Sabi - You Make Me Feel...
Gabe Saporta from the band Cobra Starship is ABSOLUTELY one of my pop crushes. There's just something about his cocky confidence that gets sucks me in every time I see him in a video. My crush goes back to the first time I saw him in the "Snakes On A Plane" video. He's just the perfect mix of bad boy rock star and flamboyant pop star and his music is damn catchy. While Cobra Starship

Hot Video Alert: Melissa NKonda feat. V.V. Brown - J'ai Fait Tout Ca Pour Vous
A couple of things before I get into this video...apologies for the barrage of "Hot Video Alerts" lately. Given how behind I have gotten with my posts, these are the easiest posts to do and I have SO many videos I want to talk about. That's that. Another thing. I wish I spoke French, because I don't know much about this artist and I couldn't find any good English language sites about her,
Hot Video Alert: Nicola Roberts - Lucky Day
Nicola Roberts is absolutely adorable in the video for new single, "Lucky Day," due out September 18th in the UK. I know the video was inspired by Grandmaster Flash's video for "The Message," and I see that to an extent, to me Roberts is channeling the legendary Ann Margret's Bye Bye Birdie intro. See what I mean? It's more than just her red hair people. An ever so coy Roberts (just like

Hot Video Alert: Katy B - Witches' Brew
I'm not sure who's more tenacious...Katy B or her record label (Columbia Records), but whoever it is...keep those singles coming! "Witches Brew" is the fifth single to be lifted from Kathleen "Katie" Brien (AKA Katy B)'s debut, top 5, Mercury-nominated album, On A Mission. Written by Katy, DJ Zinc, Greenus & Sam Frank and produced by DJ Zinc, "Witches Brew" picks up exactly where her

My favorite Danish-born/Brooklyn-based electropop star Oh Land has just unveiled the video for her new single, "White Nights" and in it's another stunner. The video features an absolutely gorgeous Oh Land (Nanna Øland Fabricius) waking up in a number of fanciful dream sequences involving some kind
Hot Video Alert: Pierre Lewis - Out Of My Mind
Photographer: Morgan Klang / Scandi Photo
English singer/songwriter Pierre Lewis is BACK with a hot new pop/R&B single called "Out Of My Mind" and let me tell you this much...DEFINITELY worth the wait. Last we heard from Lewis (musically) was back in 2009 when he released the sexy pop single "Going" not to mention it's predecessor, the catchy mid-tempo ballad "Broken." On "Out Of My Mind"
American Idol Triple Play: New Videos For Scotty McCreery, Lauren Alaina And Pia Toscano
Nothing like a little country music on a dreary, rainy day. That's what I always say. Actually, I never say that. I generally despise country music, with a few SMALL exceptions (Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Dixie Chicks, Kelli Pickler). I lost faith (and interest) in this past season of American Idol the minute Haley Reinhart was eliminated after coming in third place. When I knew

Hot Video Alert: Vanessa Carlton - Carousel (Live on the Today Show)
In the midst of a MASSIVE PR blitz for her new album, Rabbits On The Run, singer/songwriter Vanessa Carlton stopped by the fourth hour of the Today Show Tuesday for a "surprise" performance celebrating host Hota Kotb's birthday. After an awkward introduction and hug, Kotb and her co-host Kathie Lee Gifford slink off and let Carlton do her thing. Singing an especially sweet rendition of

Hot Video Alert: Will Young - Jealousy
"Jealousy" is hands down my favorite Will Young song to date. There's nothing about this song that I don't like. It's absolute perfection. From Young's tender vocal delivery, to the driving beats provided by producer Richard X, "Jealousy" is an electropop masterpiece through and through. Unlike many truly ACE songs, the complementary video for "Jealousy" is equally as perfect. Directed by

'Ginger Swan' Nicola Roberts Readies Single Number Two
While debut single, "Beat Of My Drum" might not have been the chart smash everyone was hoping for, Nicola Roberts is wasting no time in getting together her follow up. Whereas the Diplo-produced "Beat Of My Drum" was a bit more unconventional as far as commercial pop goes, delving into dubstep territory, new single "Lucky Day" (which premiered just this afternoon on BBC Radio 1) has Roberts
English Up & Comers, Graffiti6 Kick Off East Coast Tour in Boston
Photo Credit: Music Is My King Size Bed
When I was invited to see up and coming English electropop/rock/soul duo Graffiti6 perform their first ever gig in Boston, I was beyond thrilled. Sure, I'd been a fan of the band's vocalist Jamie Scott since hearing his debut solo single, "Just" as well as the follow up single, "Searching," both taken from his shelved debut album. Scott's next venture

Amy Winehouse (1983 – 2011)
Ever since I learned about this past weekend's tragic passing of one of my favorite artists, Amy Winehouse, I've been wracking my brain trying to remember the first time I ever heard her music. It must have been towards the end of my college experience, as I distinctly remember lending her first album, Frank, to one of my co-workers at my first out of college

Well, it looks like Real Housewife of New York's Countess Luann de Lesseps has released a second single, "Chic C'Est La Vie." She certainly took her sweet time, didn't she? Canadian 'Clip-Hop' Duo KIDCITY Release Single #2
Back in April I did a post about Canadian "clip-hop" duo KIDCITY, who at the time were preparing to to release their debut EP. Well, that EP has been out now since May and Kelly Ann and Caleb are now ready to release their new single, "Blackened." Their sound falls somewhere between Enya and Dr. Dre, coining it "clip-hop," drawing on "hip-hop and electronic heaviness."
Hot Video Alert: Belle Amie - Girls Up
Those of you who happened to catch last season of Britains The X-Factor will surely recognize girl group Belle Amie. As a newly put together group, Belle Amie did alright, lasting until the third week when

Hot Video Alert: Dessie - Whatcha Got
Yikes. Take a look at this tragedy. I should have known things were going south after Dessie was pitched to me as "the Rebecca Black of Sweden." 'Latter Day Debbie Harry,' Sky Ferreira Is a StyleCaster Cover Girl

Well, it looks like after some time out of the spotlight, he's back and ready for a comeback. On June 16th, 21-year old Masi released his new single, "Pick Up Line" on iTunes worldwide. A total guilty pleasure, "Pick Up Line" is heavily auto-tuned, synthy, sleazy electropop at it's best
Hot Remix Alert: Black Porcelain - Butterflies (DJ Zinhle Remix
Back in April I named South African singer/songwriter Black Porcelain to your attention, calling her one of my 'Ones To Watch in 2011.' There was just something about her that I inspired me to post. I don't know if it was her soulful vocals or her deep and meaningful lyrics, or perhaps it was her story of wrongful termination from her job as a radio presenter. No matter, her music is what

Ones to Watch in 2011: Brittany McDonald
Orange County, California native Brittany McDonald is a fresh new pop talent worth a listen. Her new summer single, "Boy Basher" seems almost primed for teen summer movie soundtrack success. In 2009, McDonald became a finalist

'American Idol' Finalist Pia Toscano Lands Interscope Record Deal
Well this isn't a shock. American Idol season 10 finalist, Pia Toscano seemingly has a record deal. Toscano's ninth place elimination left the live audience as well as the judges in complete shock, but I wasn't really surprised. Week after week Toscano came to the stage with, essentially, the same song - a boring, schmaltzy, over-the-top, nicely sung ballad. While there was no question that
Vanessa Carlton Premieres New Song, Sets New Album Release Date
So...yeah. Vanessa Carlton had a gig here in Boston and I missed it. So bummed! I've seen Vanessa live two or three times now, so missing out on a live gig makes me super super sad. Oh well. I'll get over it and she'll undoubtedly be back. Carlton is currently wrapping up a small club tour, promoting her forthcoming new album, Rabbits On The Run, due out July 26th (originally due a month
Darren Hayes Is Back: New Single, New Video, New Album In The Fall
No question about it. Darren Hayes is one of my favorite male vocalists of all time. Ever since I first heard him on the radio, singing as 1/2 of pop duo Savage Garden, I've been mesmerized by his flawless tenor, unique sound and flawless falsetto. My adoration continued with the release of his sophomore solo album, The Tension and The Spark and subsequent singles "Pop!ular," and "Darkness."
Melody Thornton Goes From Singing Riffs, To Singing Songs
Melody Thornton is arguably the second most talented SINGING-member of Robin Antin's Pussycat Dolls pop group (although Kimberly Wyatt has certainly proved herself with new band Her Majesty and The Wolves) and after many past rumblings about a solo career, the time has finally come for Thornton to shine. Released independently on June 16th, Thornton's first single, "Sweet Vendetta" is a lovely
Hot Video Alert: Ulrik Munther - Moments Ago
17-year Ulrik Munther has been called Sweden's answer to Justin Bieber, due mainly to his immense talent and young age. While I definitely see the similarities, Munther appears to posses a certain innocence that Justin Bieber lacks. In addition to being a gifted singer/songwriter, this multi-talented musician plays both the guitar and the harp. While I think that the Bieber comparisons are

Ones to Watch in 2011: Wolfette
There's something mesmerizing about English electropop/rock singer Wolfette. I can't quite put my finger on what it is that mesmerizes me, all I know is I like her and I think you will as well. French Singer/Songwriter Zaz Looks To Introduce 'Gypsy Jazz' Stateside
Ever since my first (and only) trip to Paris, I've always been attracted to French pop music. Speaking of French music, allow me to introduce you to chart topping, diamond and platinum selling French pop/gypsy/

Singer/Songwriter Van Hunt Announces New Single and Album for 2011
I was introduced to the soulful vocals of, then R&B newcomer, Van Hunt the Winter after my college graduation. My manager at the time was obsessed with Van Hunt, so I had to
Ones to Watch in 2011: Graffiti6

Hot Video Alert: Alex Gaudino feat. Kelly Rowland - What A Feeling
Kelly Rowland could very well be my favorite Destiny's Child solo star. Sure, Beyonce's great and all but Kelly Rowland is the one that I can't keep my eyes off whenever she releases a new song. While, by and large, I steer clear from her more R&B-leaning material, when she comes out with a dance hit it instantly jives with me. Her latest dance collaboration, "What A Feeling," with

Hot Video Alert: LMFAO feat. Natalia Kills - Champagne Showers

Hot Video Alert: Florrie - Experimenting With Rugs
English singer/songwriter Florrie's latest single, "Experimenting With Rugs" has a video! Shot in London by director Lee Jenkins, the video is more of a promo reel than anything else, as it doesn't feature Florrie lip-syncing along to the song, rather showing the beautiful talent all dolled up and striking a bunch of fierce poses. I'm down!
"Experimenting With Drugs" is taken from Florrie's
Joss Stone Moves Ahead with Album Release, Joins Mick Jagger-lead Super Group
After all that Joss Stone has been through in the past couple of months, I was half expecting her to delay her forthcoming album release but it appears that things are moving along as planned. "Somehow" is a soulful song with plenty of swagger and THE perfect

Featuring lyrics like, "Wanna be like Midas, but my bank account is minus," the song is all about being broke but
Ones to Watch in 2011: Avery

Recently signed to Universal Records as one of the youngest artists on the roster, Avery's latest single, "Go Screw Yourself (GSY)" is an attitude-filled pop-punk anthem guaranteed to make you move. Very reminiscent of Avril Lavigne in her prime, "Go Screw Yourself" has HIT written all over it, and seeing

Hot Video Alert: Rihanna - Man Down
Rihanna premiered her controversial new video earlier this month on VEVO and I'm just now seeing it for the first time. "Man Down," Rihanna's fifth single from Loud, was written by Shama Joseph, Timothy Thomas, Theron Thomas as well as fellow Barbadian singer/songwriter Shontelle Layne. The reggae-tinged single, which was also produced by Shama "Sham" Joseph took it's sweet time growing on me
Joe Jonas to Premiere 'See No More' Video June 29th on E!
I'm honestly still on the fence about Joe Jonas' new single. I wanted to love it but I can't help but think of Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell's foray into urban-electro territory with 2009's Scream. That album certainly had it's moments, overall it was a risk that just didn't pay off. While Chris Cornell's leap from alt rock to electro-pop was considerably more drastic than Joe Jonas, I

Hot Video Alert: Jakwob feat.Smiler - Right Beside You
I detest live music videos. They just seem like such a cop out to me. I understand label purse strings are tight but live music videos are just so freakin' boring! Case in point, the official video for UK dubstep DJ/producer Jakwob. His latest single, "Right Beside You" was released on June 20th via Boom Ting Recordings, the video for which features Jakwob and guest rapper, Smiler both in
Hot Video Alert: Robyn - Call Your Girlfriend
This video is likely old news to most of you but it's new to me, as I'm still catching up on emails from early late May/Early June! "Call Your Girlfriend" is the latest single released from Robyn's BRILLIANT Body Talk album, released in November of 2010. Written by Robyn, alongside Klas Åhlund and Alexander Kronlund, the single was released in April. Produced by Åhlund and Billboard, "Call

Hot Video Alert: CockNBullKid - Yellow
Poor CockNBullKid! Wherever she goes she's being followed by shady characters. In the video for "One Eye Closed," she's followed by scary monsters. In the video for "Hold On To Your Misery," she's followed by dancing, pouty pint size dopplegangers. In "Asthma Attack," girl is just trying to walk home at night when all of the sudden, these random back up dancers show up and start
Hot Video Alert: Britney Spears - I Wanna Go
The new Britney Spears video for "I Wanna Go" is here and it's basically amazing. Sure, in this post apocalyptic "Toxic" Brit Brit universe, no video will ever be as amazing as "Toxic" but I'd like to point out several decently hot BS videos that have come out post 2003. Here are a couple of my favorites.
"Piece Of Me" - While nothing groundbreaking, following the Shakespearean tragedy that

Oh Land Releases 'Rainbow' Video, Tours with Sia and Katy Perry
Danish-born, New York-based singer/songwriter/producer Oh Land just released the simple, yet stunning video for her song "Rainbow," easily one of my favorite tracks off of the album. One of my 'Ones To Watch in 2011,' Oh Land is a former dancer turned singer/songwriter who released her self titled debut U.S. album last March. The album peaked at #184 here in America, which is pretty
Tatiana Readies Release of Single #2, Gets Steamy in New Video
On August 22nd, Polish pop star Tatiana will release her jazzy new single, the Tim Hutton (Prodigy, Groove Armada, Mutya Buena) penned and produced "Been A Fool." A standout track on her debut international album, Spider Web, "Been A Fool" is the perfect vehicle for Tatiana's trademark sultry vocals. Just like it's predecessor, the equally stunning debut single, "Spider Web," "Been A Fool" has

Hot Video Alert: The Wanted - Glad You Came
"Glad You Came" is technically the second single (officially the first) from English boy band The Wanted's yet-to-be-released sophomore album. The song was written by Steve Mac, Wayne Hector and Ed Drewett and produced by Steve Mac, the genius producer who's worked with everyone from Westlife and Kelly Clarkson to Leona Lewis and Delta Goodrem. "Glad You Came" is a hands down floor filler,
CockNBullKid Set to Release Fourth Single in August, Covers Destiny's Child with Eliza Doolittle
Artwork by Jonathan Knowles
One of my FAVORITE new artists, Ms. Anita Blay (AKA CockNBullKid) has a new album out, a bunch of UK tour dates and a new single due out in August. Busy summer for CockNBullKid! Hopefully she can find some time to release her beautiful album, Adulthood, here in the States. She already hinted that it's coming, but no word just yet as to when. In the meantime,

Taylor and Hayley Hasselhoff Are...Bella Vida
When I first heard that David Hasselhoff's daughters, Taylor and Hayley, were pop stars, I was hesitant to say the least. Given their Dad's amount of...erm..."talent" I really had low expectations when it came to the girls. That all being said, I think I might have misjudged what a good beat, some vocal effects and yes, a smidgen of talent, can really do. Going by the name Bella Vida, "
Hot Remix Alert: Aretha Franklin (Kraak & Smaak Club & Dub Remixes)
I LOVE it when I hear a hot remix of an old classic. Case in point, these FABULOUS remixes from Kraak & Smaak (a Dutch trio of producers) of "Think" by the Queen of Soul herself, Aretha Franklin. AMAZING!
Hailing from Leiden in The Netherlands, Kraak & Smaak (Oscar de Jong, Mark Kneppers and Wim Plug) released their debut album, Boogie Angst, in the UK in 2005/2006 after receiving support from

As previously reported, Girls Aloud member and solo pop up-and-comer, Nicola Roberts has a new single out in the UK. The song is called "Beat Of My Drum" and it was produced by Diplo (M.I.A., Robyn) and Dimitri Tikovoi (Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Placebo). Broadway/Las Vegas/Reality Star Josh Strickland Releases Second Dance Single
Josh Strickland. WOW! What a voice! Currently starring in PEEPSHOW in Las Vegas and in Holly's World on E!, Josh Strickland is moving forward with plans to release a solo EP of dance pop later this summer, the second single from which, "Last Dance," is out on iTunes now. The song showcases Strickland's powerhouse pipes and feisty attitude, at times sounding like Christina Aguilera (no joke).

Hot Video Alert: Jason Derülo - Don't Wanna Go Home
Scrolling through my blog tags, it's hard to believe that I haven't yet done a post on 21-year old American singer/songwriter/pop star Jason Derülo. Well, there's no time like the present I guess. This week Derülo's latest single, "Don't Wanna Go Home" rises one spot to #17 on the Billboard Hot 100, continuing on it's chart ascent after jumping 74 spots from #92 to #18 the week of June 11th.

'Music From Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark,' Out Now on Interscope Records
After being plagued by countless rewrites, behind-the-scenes reshufflings, actor injuries and a shit-ton of controversy, the new musical SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark FINALLY opened at Broadway's Foxwoods Theatre on June 14th. While the reviews have been mixed, the powers that be are already trying to make up some of the debt incurred in bringing this ginormous soon-to-be flop to life. First
Ones to Watch in 2011: Jake Troth
Jake Troth is a talented singer/songwriter that you all should be aware of. His "soulful and pop infused arrangements" have already earned him comparisons to a bevvy of my favorite artists, including Amy Winehouse, Broken Bells and Coldplay. After hearing his latest single, "Material Things," I might have to add Swedish electro-pop singer Lykke Li to the mix. Troth took the time to explain

Ones to Watch in 2011: Pearl and The Beard
I'm BEYOND excited to see one of my favorite live bands tonight here in Cambridge, MA. If you haven't caught a Pearl and The Beard show yet, you're really missing out. No...really. The single, due out July 10th on Geffen/Future Records, is a "perky dose of down to earth country" and a worthy follow up to her snappy debut. The "Nashville friendly, blues inspired"

Diggy Simmons Drops Debut Single, Atlantic Records Debut Album Due Later This Year
I first became aware of up & coming rapper Diggy Simmons when he featured on UK soul/R&B singer (and Amy Winehouse's God Daughter) Dionne Bromfield's single "Yeah Right." Since that very moment, I've been keeping my eyes peeled for word on Diggy's forthcoming solo debut and I'm happy to report that it's finally here!
"Copy, Paste" is an impressive debut single for the 16 year old MC, who only

Dutch Producer/DJ/Remixer Sander Kleinenberg Set To Release Debut Album June 14th
Back in November I spotlighted a new video from Dutch producer Sander Kleinenberg called "Remember When," and I still love this song all these months later. Hot Video Alert: James Blake - Lindisfarne
21 year electronic singer and BRIT Award nominee, James Blake is an artist I've talked about in passing on the blog but never properly spotlighted. Hot Video Alert: Shakira feat. Pitbull - Rabiosa
"Rabiosa" (AKA Rabid in Spanish) might be one of my favorite songs off of 34-year old Colombian pop superstar Shakira's latest album, Sale el Sol. This fiery number has been described as "giddy, rapid-fire Latin pop" and a "meringue-rock hybrid," both of which describe this song perfectly {SOURCE 1, 2}. Produced by Shakira, El Cata and Pitbull, "Rabiosa" is the third single taken from

Hot Video Alert: Katy B - Easy Please Me
"Easy Please Me" is the latest single from Katy B, the talented 22-year old BRIT school-grad and current singer/songwriter who's debut album, On A Mission, debuted at #2 on the UK Albums Charts back in April.
One of my favorite new artists to emerge out of the UK in recent months, Katy B's fresh sound blends pop, R&B and dub step to create some really grimy dance-pop jams, well-suited for both

Hot Video Alert: Avril Lavigne - Smile
So...yeah. Still playing catch up here. Forgive me. The video for pop/punk singer/songwriter Avril Lavigne's latest single, "Smile" is cute. Just like the video for previous single, "What The Hell," it features Lavigne rockin' out with colored streaks in her hair, looking girly and badass at the same time. The song was written and produced by hitmakers Max Martin (Britney Spears, Katy Perry)
Hot Video Alert: Patrick Wolf - House
"House" is the third single taken off of Patrick Wolf's forthcoming fifth studio album, Lupercalia, due June 20th in the UK on Mercury Records. All of the singles as well as the album were written and produced by Wolf, including "House" and it's predecessor "The City," released back in March.

Ones to Watch in 2011: Thomas Dybdahl
Have you ever heard a particular singer's voice and thought..."Man. I would LOVE this person to sing me a lullaby." To be honest, before hearing Norwegian singer/songwriter Thomas Dybdahl's soothing vocals, neither had I.
While Dybdahl is a complete original, his work has earned comparisons to music legends including Tim Buckley and Nick Drake. I also hear a little bit of James Blake in his

I absolutely LOVE Kristin Wiig and the rest of the cast, including Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, Ellie Kemper and Melissa McCarthy, was absolutely fabulous as well.

Hot Video Alert: Amos Lee - Flower
I've been hearing about singer/songwriter Amos Lee for some time now. I've listened to him before, but for one reason or another, his music just never struck the right note with me. Then, I watched the video for his latest single, "Flower" and something just started jiving. I don't know if it's the song itself, the way Lee sings it or the innovative video - but something happened and I'm

Hot Video Alert: Taylor Swift - Mean
"Mean" is the third single lifted off of Taylor Swift's 3X Platinum-selling Speak Now album. The DeClan Whitebloom directed-video is Swift's response to the recent epidemic of teen bullying plaguing the country, although it seems to send mixed messages. Interspersed throughout the touching anti-bullying anecdotes are clips of Swift dressed up in various vintage costumes. While touching, the

Ones to Watch in 2011: Fallulah
Next to Sweden and the UK, Denmark might be my next favorite pop music pool. The country is responsible for popular acts including Raveonettes, Whigfield, Alphabeat and Infernal as well as guilty pleasures like Aqua. While electropop acts like Alphabeat and Infernal are great, there's a time and a place for everything and right now, singer/songwriter Fallulah's soothing, folk-pop voice fits my

Hot Remix Alert: Neon Hitch Feat. Wale - Silly Girl
Boy do I have a HOT remix for ya'll. You may remember when I posted about "Silly Girl," a new Benny Blanco-produced jam from UK singer/songwriter Neon Hitch. This version of "Silly Girl" features a guest rap by American rapper Wale and unlike most rapper remixed tracks,

Hot Video Alert: Cascada - San Francisco
Every night before bed, I count my blessings. At least once a year, I thank God for Cascada and the brand of generic, trash euro-pop that vocalist Natalie Horler, DJ Marnian and Yanou bring to clubs all over the world. OK - I don't do any of that but you gotta love Cascada. How can you not? I have to tip my hat to any band that can successfully makeover a country hit like "What Hurts The
Singer-Songwriter Gavin DeGraw To Release New Single June 7th, Joins Train + Maroon 5 Summer Tour
To be honest, when I first heard that Gavin DeGraw was releasing a new material, I wasn't that excited about it. The last Gavin DeGraw album I really listened to was his 2003 major label debut, Chariot (J Records), which spawned his one top ten single, "I Don't Want To Be." That album was chock-full of singer-songwriter pop gold including "Follow Through" and the album's title track, "Chariot.

The single was a Top 5 hit for Chase & Status and propelled Bailey into his own, much deserved spotlight. I love it
DJ Benny Benassi Releases 'Cinema' Video, Announces Tour & Album Release Date

CockNBullKid Releases Debut Album, U.S. Release Planned for Later this Year
CockNBullKid (AKA Anita Blay) is an artist I briefly mentioned in my massive music video round up when I got back from Mexico. Since then, I've been listening to her song "Asthma Attack" on repeat and thought that my love for this song warranted doing a proper post. While I still have trouble saying the name CockNBullKid out loud, I have no problem whatsoever telling people that they need to
Hot Video Alert: Ray LaMontagne & The Pariah Dogs - Repo Man (Live on Letterman)
To help psych me out for next week's concert here in Boston, I decided to post a little live video of Ray LaMontagne doin' his thing for Live On Letterman (an online concert of sorts) a couple of weeks back. While LaMontagne did a few songs for the online exclusive set, "Repo Man" was the one featured on the broadcast and it was absolutely brilliant. The energy that LaMontagne brings to his
Hot Video Alert: Olly Murs - Busy
I have SUCH a crush on Olly Murs. The runner-up on series six of the UK's X-Factor, Murs is absolutely adorable and unfortunately for me, the video for his latest single only makes me love him more. Due out May 29th in the UK, new single "Busy" was written by Murs, Adam Argyle and Martin Brammer. Taken from his self titled debut album, "Busy" is the fourth single and the follow up to
Nicole Scherzinger Releases New Single, Judging U.S. X-Factor This Fall on Fox
You probably already saw my honest critique of Nicole Scherzinger's new song with rapper 50 Cent, "Right There," but if you haven't - let me summarize. Not my cup of tea. Further confirming my feelings towards the song, was Sherzy's lackluster performance of the song on American Idol a couple of weeks ago. The performance itself wasn't necessarily lackluster, but my blase attitude towards the

Hot Video Alert: BC Jean - I'll Survive You
Back in August I did a post about a promising new talent named BC Jean and I'm embarrassed to say it's taken me since then to do another post about her. Hot Video Alert: The Saturdays - Notorious
The Saturdays have done it once again! If you haven't heard their INSANELY catchy new single, "Notorious," get on the train and check out the additively fun video below (U.S. readers click HERE). Produced by Steve Mac, "Notorious" is a proper electropop jam, showcasing each of the girls (Una Healy, Mollie King, Frankie Sandford, Vanessa White, Rochelle Wiseman) vocally. The sound of this
Hot Video Alert: Lady Gaga - Judas
JEEZE man. I can't believe that since my last Lady Gaga post, there's been: a music video, a third single - "Edge of Glory", an appearance on Saturday Night Live, AND the release of her new album Born This Way. You snooze you lose, I guess. I wanted to post Gaga's controversial "Judas" video just for the sake of posting it. I'm not going to critique and re-hash what's already been said.
Hot Video Alert: Talia Coles - Never See You Again
Talia Coles is "COUTURE" personified. According to her bio, Coles merges "high impact, genre breaking music with stunning elements of fashion and dance," creating dance pop magic. Her latest single, "Never See You Again" was a Billboard dance hit, spending 9 straight weeks on the Hot Dance Club Play chart, peaking at #19. Check out the SEXY new video for the single and see Coles strutting her
Fresh New R&B Talent, Cleo Sol Teases with Promo Single #2
Back in mid April I called twenty year old urban pop star Cleo Sol one of my "Ones To Watch in 2011," and I continue to stand by that statement. Check out this live performance of one of her new songs, "Call For Me," the recorded version of which was produced by DaVinChe (Tinchy Stryder, Tinie Tempah). Cleo Sol's vocals are tailor-made for this style of music, which is very clearly R&B. I'm

Freedom or Death is a Toronto-based folktronica duo and "This Crowded Room" is their latest single, taken from their full length release, EGO, due this Fall. Make sure you check out the video for "This Crowded Room" below the cut. The band was actually named after a war cry heard during the 1820 Greek War of Independence. Freedom or Death bring a fresh perspective to the electronic music
R&B Singer JoJo Set to Release New Single June 7th
New music from JoJo is SO close I can taste it! If you haven't heard JoJo's new single, "The Other Chick" yet then now's your chance. Check it out HERE. Produced by Oak (Alesha Dixon, Ashley Tisdale, Jennifer Hudson), "The Other Chick" really shows how much JoJo has matured in the six years since she exploded onto the music scene with her angsty pop hit "Leave (Get Out)." The song is a grown
Lights, Lights, Lights! Ellie Goulding Announces New U.S. Tour, Releases 'Lights' Remix EP
Today is a BIG day for all U.S. Ellie Goulding fans. Not only did Ellie release a new remix EP for her single, "Lights," but she also announced her SECOND U.S. tour and released some tickets for pre-sale. AMAZING! My ticket has already been locked. Hopefully I can find someone to go with me...because I only bought one. Oopsie! Impulsive? Yes. Necessary? Absolutely. If you missed seeing Ellie
Hot Video Alert: Taryn Manning - Turn It Up
Photo By Cherie Roberts (via TarynManning.com)
If you don't recognize the name Taryn Manning, you might recognize the face. This talented singer/actress is probably more known for her acting career, starring in popular films like Crazy/Beautiful, Crossroads, 8 Mile, Hustle & Flow and in TV series like Sons of Anarchy, Hawaii Five-0 and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. In addition to acting,
Ballroom Remixed: New Album out May 24th, featuring Simon Curtis, Elouise, Lucas Prata, Linda Teodosiu and More!
One of my favorite reality TV series is So You Think You Can Dance. If you too are a fan of the show (at least the U.S. and Canadian versions) you'll recognize Melanie LaPatin from her work as a choreographer, putting together slick and sexy routines for the show's contestants week after week. As a dancer and choreographer, you have to find inspiration in all kinds of music and So You Think
Dionne Bromfield Unveils 'Foolin'" Music Video, Sophomore Album Due Next Month
Dionne Bromfield is a promising young talent from across the pond that I've been championing for some time now. She's only 15 years old but the talent that emanates from this girl is astounding. On her debut album, Introducing Dionne Bromfield, this young star sang her heart out on Motown classics like "Tell Him," "Mama Said," and "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," sounding like a singer

Ones to Watch in 2011: Connor
Connor is an artist you best keep your eyes fixed on. Quickly making a name for himself in the Urban music scene, the super talented East London rapper spits verses like he's been doing it for years and he's only 19 years old! Not only is Connor a spitfire when it comes to rap, but he's also taught himself to play the guitar, bass and even the drums. Add to that a National Diploma in
Andrea Corr Releases New Album, Single and Video
Andrea Corr first came to my attention back in 1996 when she had a bit part in Alan Parker's big screen adaption of the musical Evita, starring Madonna. Corr only played the part of Juan Peron's mistress and had no speaking lines, but something about her presence struck me. Later on, of course, I discovered that she was a part of Irish folk rock/pop band The Corrs, who back in 1996 had already

In Case You Missed It...Ellie Goulding on Saturday Night Live
As I mentioned at the end of April, UK folktronica darling Ellie Goulding made her Saturday Night Live debut, appearing on the show's 700th episode, hosted by Tina Fey on Saturday May 7th. Goulding looked AND sounded stunning, singing two songs - "Lights" and "Your Song." The album debuted on the Billboard 200 chart at #129 but re-entered the chart after her Saturday Night Live performance,
Hot Video Alert: Eva feat. Gucci Mane - Not My Daddy
I like a good SLEAZY pop song as much as the next gay, so when I heard "Not My Daddy" by new pop up & comer Eva, I knew it was going to be good. The twenty year old Eva was born in Lincoln, Nebraska but grew up in the Bay Area of California. Her genre is a nice blend of pop, hip-hop, R&B and electronica. Sounds right up my alley.
"I'm all about having fun, I love dancing, I love performing.
Hot Video Alert: Owl City - Alligator Sky
Some things never change. I still have an emo crush on Owl City (AKA Adam Young). In the recently released video for new single, "Alligator Sky," Young and guest rapper Shawn Chrystopher, are walking around a post apocalyptic earth, saying goodbye to the planet they once called home. Both are wearing retro-space suits and rockets are taking off all around them, supposedly carrying away the

Hot Video Alert: Simple Plan feat. Natasha Bedingfield - Jet Lag
Poor Natasha Bedingfield. Girl can't seem to catch a break in the U.S. these days. Her last album tanked here in America and now, a song on which she's featured, fails to chart. Pity. What happened to her over here? "Jet Lag" is the second official single from French Canadian pop punk band Simple Plan's forthcoming album Get Your Heart On! The single was released on April 25th in the U.S.,

Tori Amos Experiments with 'Classical' on New Album Due in September
Tori Amos has always been in my periphery, but never REALLY in my line of site. The last ALBUM I bought by Amos was 2001's Strange Little Girl and probably the last single I bought of Amos' was "Welcome To England" off of her 2009 album, Abnormally Attracted To Sin. I have nothing against Amos, she's always been a bit out there to me. Something about her music either
Hot Video Alert: Loli Lux - Wannabe
New York-based DJ & Electro pop artist Loli Lux is someone you should know. Actually, she's probably already somebody you have heard. Lady Gaga's new RedOne-produced single, "Judas" uses the very same hook heard on Lux's single "WannaBE 2011" and it doesn't sound like it's a coincidence. Lux apparently contacted producer RedOne through an acquaintance and sent him her track. {SOURCE} Hmm...

Hot Video Alert: Beyonce - Run The World (Girls)
After delaying the release for a couple of weeks, mega superstar Beyoncé FINALLY unveiled the Francis Lawrence-directed music video for her new single, "Run The World (Girls)" tonight on American Idol. The premiere just happened to coincide with Beyoncé's appearance as a mentor to the final three. While the video is VISUALLY stunning, the song is still a bit of a mess for me. Produced by

The Puppini Sisters Prep for Release of New Album
The Puppini Sisters are amazing. Ever since they emerged swingin' and singin' "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy (from Company B)" in 2006 I've been involved in a lengthy love affair with these three beauties. The Puppini Sisters are Marcella Puppini, Stephanie O'Brien and Kate Mullins (not sisters) and they have perfectly mastered that distinct 1940s sounds, popularized by such groups as The Andrews

Going in a decidedly more pop/R&B direction along the lines of Jesse McCartney and Blake McGrath, Zanrosso's latest single, "

Nicole Scherzinger Gets Promotional Ball Rolling Stateside: U.S. Single Due May 17, Album In The Summer
Scherzy Scherzy Scherzy. It's great to FINALLY have a Nicole Scherzinger album to look forward to. Back in 2007 former head Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger was SUPPOSED to release her debut solo album, Her Name Is Nicole, but sadly it never materialized, likely due to the poor chart performances of the singles. Scherzinger wound up releasing 4 songs from that album - "Whatever U Like," "Baby
Hot Video Alert: The Pierces - Glorious
I was first introduced to The Pierces by a co-worker of mine a couple of years back. Admittedly I wasn't in a place at that time to really get into them but I think I've mellowed out since then. The Alabama-born, New York-based sister act (Allison and Catherine Pierce), to date, has released three full length albums and two EPs. You & I, the duo's upcoming fourth studio album is scheduled for

Hot Video Alert: Kate Bush - Deeper Understanding
I'm going to admit something I probably shouldn't admit. Until recently, I hadn't heard any of Kate Bush's music. Not really. Of course, I'd heard of songs like "Wuthering Heights," and "Running Up That Hill" but I guess I never really stopped and listened until now. Early on in my music-listening days, I would simply cast to the side any artist before 1981 (my birth year). This was probably
